If I think well, late September is the period time of the year I love most. While I don’t have any special health issues, I don’t handle heat well, and I also hate mosquitos. Usually, by the end of September, nasty insects and heat are left behind, but that’s not the only reason for me to love September. I don’t know why is this happening, but there are a lot of interesting things to talk about each September and, fortunately, in the last few years, most of them were positive. When talking about Apple, their September facts always looked good, as we’re going to see right away…
If we put aside this year’s September, we should remember that Apple Inc. had worldwide annual sales of $24 billion in its fiscal year ending September 29, 2007, and you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to figure out this year’s numbers will grow even larger. Anyway, let’s leave this and look into the past now, shall we?
Back in 1984, Apple launched the Macintosh, and soon its sales reached new highs, leading to the first public offering of the company, on the 7th of September.
In the meantime, most important release of this month was the first generation iPod Touch, introduced in September, 2007. The interesting part is that, most of the time, Apple’s releases don’t come one at a time, so look at the iPod Nano – first generation arrived in September, 2005, followed by the second one, about an year later. Third generation was released a year ago, and now the fourth one just arrived!
While the first generation iPod Shuffle was released in January, 2005, the second one arrived a year later, in September.
At last, the 80GB fifth generation iPod Classic arrived in September, 2006, while the two different revisions of the sixth generation (80GB and 160GB, followed by the 120GB model) became public in early September 2007, respectively September 2008.
Steve Jobs is a great strategist, and the fact that we always have Apple September facts to talk about shouldn’t come as a surprise – after all, this is that time of the year when students go back to schools and universities, so grabbing a new gadget from Apple, maybe even a new notebook, is always a good option.
