I so agree with this vid. I got an HP Pavilion dv7 with i7, 6 gigs of ram, and 640GB HDD w/ NVIDIA GeForce GT 230M, maybe not what a gamer wants, but lets game on a Macbook! It was $1,400.

i hate AppleSoldier. he needs to get his ass kicked. he gives mac users a bad name and im not even pro mac. a good friend of mine basicly converted to the “ilife”, (iphone, ipod, macbook pro, etc…) she will be missed in the pc world :-p
กุมภาพันธ์ 23, 2010 - 10:13 pm
-you cant even spell “site” correctly as in a webSITE”
-You failed to comprehend that when I say in the video “I decided to do my own compare on laptops” that I’m not following AppleSoldier’s path. Thats why its MY comparision. If I use Alienware, then that would be HIS comparision.
God you are as dumb as rocks.
กุมภาพันธ์ 23, 2010 - 10:28 pm
dumb ass you weren’t even on the alienware sight you sir are a certifiable retard
กุมภาพันธ์ 23, 2010 - 11:14 pm

กุมภาพันธ์ 23, 2010 - 11:57 pm

points 2: Im sorry, but the GTX 260, owns the GPU ur talking about. (ALSO, p.s. SOME GAMES NEED DX10 SUPPORt, OR DX9, OR NOW, DX11. (OPENGL SUCKS)

point 3: with the ram, we go back to ur STUPID MATH!
point 4: the mac 32gb is 5400 RPM, the alienware is 7200RPM
point 5: IT IS NOT EXACT U FAG
point 6: U KNOW SHIT, NOTHING about computers.
กุมภาพันธ์ 24, 2010 - 12:31 am

กุมภาพันธ์ 24, 2010 - 2:35 am
the apple are rip-off at other countries
กุมภาพันธ์ 24, 2010 - 3:27 am
Yes it was a great debate.
I’ve got 2 main PCs for work and fun, one home theatre PC and one server. I had a G4 733 running 10.4 until a while ago but gave it to a friend.
PS. Good job about contributing to SETI. I did for a while but recently stopped because I sold that machine.
Anyway cheers and looking forward to future debates
กุมภาพันธ์ 24, 2010 - 3:56 am
Anyway. we had a solid debate on Mac vs PC
I thinks Its just what we want and what we are comfortable with.
I have 2 Macs and 1 PC Rig for Games. The best part in PCs is making them. I custom built 15 CPU PC and windows 2000 with very low cost for contributing CPU power to SETI.

“but for me personally having used both I guess I’m still happier with a PC and Windows”
What i meant is extensive use of OSs. Almost every body in the world have to use Windows for work and with friends, Software etc.
Macs on other side is completely new evolution. The way Mac,iLife, iPod, iPhones are used are different. What they have in common is integration, data access across products and more.
If Apple wants it can sell 10 times more iPhone than it did. Many people fail to understand

“On PCs, e-sata is becoming the way to go for high speed external devices ”
Every Macbook Pro is e-sata compatible since 2006. All have high speed express/34 slot. How many PC laptops equipped with DVI and Express34.?
Ex: “Sonnet Tempo SATA Express 34 Card”
“The extended battery was $150″
Macbook pro laptop battery lasts for 1000 cycles i.e 5 years of apprx. Typical battery lasts for 300 to 400 cycles.
“many PCs sold have at least firewire 400.”
It doesn’t make sense for PCs to have FW
กุมภาพันธ์ 24, 2010 - 6:16 am
The notebook was not that expensive and was quite small at the time. It was a 12.1″ screen and the notebook weight 3.2lbs with the standard battery. The extended battery was $150.
On PCs, e-sata is becoming the way to go for high speed external devices such as drives. The low speed devices are fine as USB. Many newer digital cameras also offer a USB interface so its not an issue like the old days I guess
Not that its much of an issue because many PCs sold have at least firewire 400.
กุมภาพันธ์ 24, 2010 - 6:17 am
It is true that many windows users have not used Macs but for me personally having used both I guess I’m still happier with a PC and Windows. Although I’m sure I’m not the typical user since DIY type machines probably account for a small segment of the PC market share but thats the draw for me.
Anyway I guess thats it then. Well its been a good debate and in the end, its impossible to say which is better because it boils down the the user and their needs and wants I guess.

1. Neither myself or my friends in the computer and networking field own or want to own a Mac. We prefer to build our own.
I work in Cisco. I use Mac for work and Linux in for our products.
“Win2k, XP and Vista have been rock solid for me so why change”
Well all mac users are windows users too. They know both very well. Not all windows user really know a Mac. So, there is a Gap.
No need to change. My friend still uses windows 98. He is happy for his work being done.
กุมภาพันธ์ 24, 2010 - 8:00 am
Asus M12 with the optional battery could go 12 hours
- Thats great to have 12 hr battery. How much does it cost.? Apple tried to achieve 8 Hours this same laptop size less than 1 inch thick.
In the video the price comparison was about the Macbook pro equivalent PC and price. I’m sure 12 hr battery costs more.
-Firwire is used on PCs
USB is more commonly used than a firewire or ilink
-I said Apple had 9 years to gain significant marketshare and failed
Right. Its not easy to convince people.
กุมภาพันธ์ 24, 2010 - 8:10 am
…but these discussions are kind of meaningless because
1. Neither myself or my friends in the computer and networking field own or want to own a Mac. We prefer to build our own.
2. Reliability is not a concern because even my Dual Pentium Pro 200Mhz system from 1996 still runs. I’ve had zero failures on my personal machines and there have been quite a few.
3. Win2k, XP and Vista have been rock solid for me so why change. I dont even run AV and have not since XP SP2 came out…
กุมภาพันธ์ 24, 2010 - 8:38 am
PS. Firewire is not exclusive for the Mac by default so it means you can get some PC machines with firewire onoard. By default, there are NO macs hat have E-sata onboard so its an add-on for any Mac. See firewire addon for *SOME* PCs but E-sata addon for all macs.
Also there is the blue-ray playback or lack of it on the Mac. Many people are buying strictly blueray movies these days so its kinda nice to be able to watch it in a notebook when on holiday.
กุมภาพันธ์ 24, 2010 - 9:09 am
-my Asus M12 with the optional battery could go 12 hours of general computing use.
-Firwire is used on PCs
-I said nothing about any specific brand. You spoke of OSX being the best and I said Apple had 9 years to gain significant marketshare and failed. Infact I bet the majority of increase was due to bootcamp and NOT due to OSX.
-People buy what they need. Maybe Apple should offer budget machines.
-Wireless hard drives suck but if needed, D-link has one that supports dual drives.
กุมภาพันธ์ 24, 2010 - 9:32 am
E-sata can be used on Macs with the appropriate 3rd party card right? If thats the case, then why even bring up the firewire issue anyway. Its the same deal. A PC user who doesnt have firewire can buy a firewire controller.
As for the Mac Pro, any internal SATA can be made to E-sata on any computer with the right cabling.
The firewire benefits for troubleshooting only relate to mac users. Windows users can use bootable DVDs or CDs with recovery environments. IMO its handier carrying a DVD
กุมภาพันธ์ 24, 2010 - 9:48 am
“still didnt address e-sata which is the fastest external consumer ”
e-sata can be used on a Mac too.
Firewire has many more uses as i mentioned. Mac users care about it as you said.
Firewire has more uses than a USB especially for a Mac user to troubleshoot a Mac and transfer files. its just easy.
Google for “Using the Mac Pro’s 2 extra onboard SATA Ports”
Eg:-
Youtube ” Using Migration Assistant on New iMac”

1. I’ve seen no test
I have a Macbook pro with 4.30 hrs of battery.
youtube for “Apple Macbookpro 17 Battery Technology”
2. There are HIGHER rated
Still going to be expensive and even they are extended out of shape of the laptop.
3. E-sata is used in Macs too.
4. commands 10%
Why is Dell more than Sony or Toshiba ?
you mean to say Dell is the best.? and others can’t make a dent on dells market.
PCs offer cheap Low config machines. Apple doesn’t
5. External Harddisk wireless PC/Mac
